Lord Muruga

Lord Muruga, is the Hindu god of war and victory. He is also known as Kartikeya. He is more popular among the tamil people, they called him as "Tamizh Kadavul " ( God of tamil ). In Bengal, they called him "Kartikeya". In Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, he is popular by the name " Subramanya ". In Srilanaka, Maruritius, Malaysia, Singapore and Reunion Island he has temple's. Especially in South India he has more temple's.
Lord Muruga is most famous for his Six Shrines in India are " ARUPADAIVEEDU".
Thiruparamkundram, Thiruchendur, Palani, Swamimalai, Thiruthani and Pazhamudhircholai.
1. Thiruparamkundram - Located in Madurai on hillock. Muruga married Indra's daughter Devasena(also called Devayani) here.
2. Thiruchendur - near Tuticorin, Located on the Sea-Shore. Kartikeya worshiped Shiva and won a battle against Soorapadman here.
3. Swamimalai - Located near Kumbakonam. This temple is built on artificial hill.
4. Palani - This temple is one of the most famous among Murugan temples in Tamil Nadu. This temple is located around 55 - 57Km from Dindugal.
5. Thiruthani - Lord Muruga married Valli here. And he remain calm and very peacefull here after the war with Asuras.
6. Pazhamudircholai - Located on a hillock near by Madurai.
